Edinburgh Fringe Festival Review: NewsRevue at Udderbelly

Celebrating its 40th year, the NewsRevue has long been an Edinburgh Fringe staple, and proved this year that it can not only remain relevant, but in such a heated political and social climate, is more necessary than ever.

A breakneck take-down of news and current affairs from the last 12 months, this four-person ensemble is an impressive mix of satire, music and comedy.

The energetic young cast effortlessly flip between a long list of characters with ease, Brett Sinclair’s versatility and comic timing a particular highlight.

Alongside him, Maya-Nola Bewley, Christian James and Althea Burey – portraying an inimitable Boris Johnson among others – keep the pace high and the laughs coming.

They touch on everything from Trump to the avocado shortage, new moons to Diane Abbott but also tackle the serious issues of Brexit and knife crime with a deft hand.

Brexit itself was well though-out and executed, an extended Le Miserables parody that delivers a solid punch.
